New rehab pathway aims to get back-pain patients back on the job sooner

Summary
This study tests a step-by-step rehabilitation plan for people having back surgery for leg pain caused by a pinched nerve. The plan includes exercises before and after surgery, early movement, and guidance on returning to work. About 480 adults who are employed and scheduled for surgery will take part. Hospitals are randomly assigned to use the new plan or continue usual care, and researchers will compare how quickly people return to work.
