A simple grasp: could a Baby's reflex be the key to easing medical pain?
NCT ID NCT06352918
Summary
This study tested whether stimulating a premature baby's natural grasp reflex could reduce their pain and improve comfort during routine PICC line care. Researchers worked with 32 preterm infants, gently triggering this reflex while nurses performed the necessary care. The goal was to see if this simple, non-drug method could make a difficult but common procedure easier for vulnerable newborns.
