Brain training zaps fear comeback in healthy adults

NCT ID NCT07122739

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether a brain-training technique called real-time fMRI neurofeedback can help healthy adults reduce the spontaneous return of learned fear responses. Participants will receive feedback based on brain connections between the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus while performing a fear-learning task. The goal is to understand how to weaken unwanted memory recovery, which could inform future treatments for anxiety disorders.
