NCT ID NCT02192710

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested whether playing on an electronic tablet can reduce anxiety in children before outpatient surgery better than the standard medicine, midazolam. 118 children aged 4 to 10 were randomly assigned to receive either the tablet or the drug. Their anxiety levels were measured at key moments, like when separating from parents and during anesthesia mask induction.
