First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a palm stimulator or a stress ball can reduce pain, fear, and distress in children aged 6 to 12 during a respiratory panel collection (a nose or throat swab). About 35 hospitalized children will be randomly assigned to use one of these tools or receive standard care. The goal is to find simple, drug-free ways to make this common procedure less upsetting for kids.
