Summary
This study tests a motivational program to help pregnant women reduce alcohol use. About 600 pregnant women who recently drank alcohol will either get standard prenatal care or also receive a computer-based alcohol reduction program plus nurse support. The goal is to see if the program leads to more women having negative alcohol tests and fewer babies born early or underweight.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
behavioral intervention (computer-delivered alcohol reduction program plus nurse counseling)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide an effective, scalable way to help pregnant women reduce alcohol use, potentially lowering rates of preterm birth and low birth weight.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral intervention, so results depend on participant engagement and may not generalize to all populations. The trial is still recruiting, and outcomes are measured by self-report and lab tests, which have limitations.
