This study tested whether teaching hospitals new guidelines for diagnosing slow labor could reduce the number of C-sections in first-time mothers. Over 88,000 women at full-term with a single baby in head-down position took part across Alberta. The goal was to lower C-section rates without harming mothers or babies.
