Summary

This large study tested whether teaching hospitals new, evidence-based guidelines for diagnosing slow labor could safely reduce the rate of cesarean sections for first-time mothers. It involved over 88,000 births across Alberta, Canada. The goal was to lower C-section rates without increasing risks to mothers or their newborns.
