New radiation approach aims to spare anal cancer patients from harsh side effects

NCT ID NCT05902533

Summary

This study is testing whether using a lower radiation dose to healthy lymph nodes can reduce treatment side effects for people with anal cancer. The trial involves 33 patients with locally advanced anal cancer who will receive the reduced radiation along with standard chemotherapy. Researchers will compare side effects like diarrhea and skin problems to previous patients who received standard radiation doses, while also monitoring whether the cancer treatment remains effective.
