First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 29, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a lower daily dose of the heart medication amiodarone (100 mg) can keep the heart in normal rhythm as well as the standard dose (200 mg) after an electrical shock procedure for persistent atrial fibrillation. About 312 adults with this condition will take the full dose for one month, then be randomly assigned to continue the full dose or switch to the lower dose. The goal is to find a dose that works well but causes fewer side effects over a year.
