Researchers investigate what makes Second-Chance rectal surgery work

NCT ID NCT07440888

Summary

This study looked back at 143 patients in China who needed a second surgery after their initial rectal cancer operation failed or the cancer came back nearby. Researchers wanted to understand what factors help make this repeat surgery successful in allowing patients to use the bathroom normally again. They also measured how well bowel function recovered after the procedure.
