Shorter radiation & chemo combo shows promise before rectal cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT04417699
Summary
This study tested a shorter, condensed treatment approach for people with operable rectal cancer. Patients received a brief course of radiation followed by chemotherapy before their planned surgery. The goal was to see if this approach could effectively shrink tumors and allow for successful, sphincter-sparing surgery while managing side effects.
