Extra stitches in cancer surgery aim to prevent dangerous leaks
NCT ID NCT07346534
Summary
This study is comparing two ways of reconnecting the bowel during surgery for low rectal cancer. One method is the standard approach, and the other adds 8-10 extra stitches to reinforce the connection. The goal is to see if the reinforced method is better at preventing a serious complication where the new connection leaks, which can lead to infections and longer recovery.
