Radiation breakthrough could save rectal cancer patients from Life-Altering surgery

NCT ID NCT07337876

Summary

This study is testing whether precise, MRI-guided radiation treatment can help rectal cancer patients avoid major surgery to remove their rectum. The goal is to preserve normal bowel function while still effectively treating the cancer. Patients will receive this targeted radiation along with standard chemotherapy, and researchers will track how many can avoid surgery while remaining cancer-free for two years.
