New Triple-Threat treatment aims to shrink rectal tumors and save patients from colostomy bags

Summary

This study is testing whether combining short radiation therapy, two immunotherapy drugs, and chemotherapy can shrink rectal tumors enough to avoid permanent colostomy bags. All 19 participants will receive the same experimental treatment, which aims to completely eliminate tumors in over half of patients. Researchers will monitor patients for five years to check if the cancer returns and assess their quality of life.
