This study tests whether a single infusion of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can help people with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a severe lung condition often seen in ICU patients, including those with COVID-19. First, researchers find a safe dose, then compare the stem cell treatment to a placebo in 129 patients on ventilators. The goal is to see if lung function improves and if the treatment is safe.
