Text messages and letters aim to bring young cancer survivors back to the doctor
NCT ID NCT07138040
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether simple digital tools—like letters and text messages—can encourage adolescent and young adult survivors of childhood cancer to schedule and attend long-term follow-up appointments. About 530 participants who are overdue for care will receive different combinations of these nudges. The goal is to find the best way to re-engage them in monitoring for late effects of their cancer treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
digital behavioral interventions (written information and text messages)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show simple digital tools help young cancer survivors get back to needed follow-up care, improving long-term health.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral study, not a drug trial. It tests whether reminders and information work, not a cure. Results may vary by individual and setting.
