First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 29, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tested whether a rapid test (FilmArray) that identifies the cause of hospital-acquired pneumonia in about an hour, combined with advice from antibiotic experts, could improve patient care. 116 adults with pneumonia caught in the hospital took part. The goal was to see if this approach reduces the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics and improves outcomes like length of stay and side effects.
