NCT ID NCT04153682

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a rapid test (FilmArray) that identifies germs in one hour, combined with advice from infection specialists, could improve care for patients who get pneumonia in the hospital. About 116 adults with hospital-acquired pneumonia took part. Half got the rapid test plus specialist advice, and half got standard care with specialist advice. The goal was to see if the rapid test helped reduce the use of strong antibiotics and improve outcomes.
