Army tests 15-Minute skin ulcer test for parasitic disease

NCT ID NCT01865032

Summary

This study tested a new rapid diagnostic device called CL Detect™ to see how well it identifies cutaneous leishmaniasis, a parasitic skin disease. Researchers enrolled 150 adults with skin ulcers and compared results from the new quick test to the standard, slower lab method. The goal was to see if the rapid test could accurately tell if an ulcer was caused by leishmaniasis or by something else.
