Could a mid-treatment scan allow safer, lower-dose radiation for throat cancer?

NCT ID NCT04667585

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study is for people with HPV-related oropharynx (throat) cancer. It uses a PET/CT scan taken during radiation treatment to see if the cancer is responding well. If it is, doctors will lower the radiation dose for the rest of treatment. The goal is to reduce side effects while still controlling the cancer. About 120 adults with early-stage disease will take part.
