Brain radiation may erase personal memories, study warns
NCT ID NCT02750371
First seen May 17, 2026 · Last updated May 29, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether radiation therapy for certain brain tumors (cavernous sinus meningioma or pituitary adenoma) can harm autobiographical memory—the memory of personal life events. Researchers recruited 17 patients aged 35 to 65 who were scheduled for radiotherapy. They tested memory before and after treatment using specialized tests. The goal was to understand if radiation affects the hippocampus, a key memory center.
