Zapping thyroid cancer: new study tests heat treatment to avoid surgery

NCT ID NCT07376837

Summary

This study is testing a less invasive procedure called radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as a potential treatment for small, low-risk thyroid cancer. It will enroll 30 adults who have chosen not to have surgery or active monitoring. Doctors will use ultrasound to guide a needle that heats and destroys the cancer, aiming to eliminate it while preserving the rest of the thyroid gland.
