Radioactive drug offers hope for tough childhood and adult cancers

NCT ID NCT01850888

Summary

This study tested a radioactive drug called 131I-MIBG as a treatment for people with advanced neuroblastoma (a childhood nerve cancer) or metastatic pheochromocytoma (a rare adrenal gland tumor) that had stopped responding to standard treatments. The main goal was to provide access to this therapy and see if it could help control the disease and ease symptoms like pain and fatigue. Researchers also carefully tracked side effects, especially on the blood, liver, and thyroid.
