Radiation blast before surgery: new hope for tough chest cancer?

NCT ID NCT04028570

Summary

This study is testing a new two-part radiation treatment for mesothelioma, a serious cancer of the lung lining, before surgery. Doctors want to find the highest safe dose of the first part (background radiation) when combined with a strong, targeted second dose (boost radiation) aimed at large tumors. The goal is to see if this aggressive approach helps control the disease and is safe enough for patients to still have surgery about 1-2 weeks later.
