Zap nerves to loosen muscles? new trial tests radiation for stiffness

NCT ID NCT06070233

Summary

This study is testing a new, non-surgical procedure that uses precise beams of radiation to target specific nerves in the spine. The goal is to see if this can safely and effectively reduce severe, treatment-resistant muscle stiffness (spasticity) caused by conditions like stroke, spinal cord injury, or cerebral palsy. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either the real radiation treatment or a sham (fake) procedure, and their muscle stiffness and quality of life are tracked for two years.
