Summary

Researchers are testing whether supportive psychotherapy combined with daily listening to Surah Ar-Rahman recitation reduces depression, anxiety, and stress in cancer patients. Sixty adults with stage I or II cancer who are receiving or have received treatment join the study. Half receive 12 weeks of weekly counseling plus daily audio listening; the other half receive standard care. The team measures distress, hope, and quality of life before and after.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
supportive psychotherapy combined with daily listening to a Quran recitation (Surah Ar-Rahman)
What this could lead to
If it helps, this could offer a low-cost, culturally grounded way to ease distress and lift hope for people living with cancer.
What could go wrong
The trial is small and early, so any benefit may be modest or may not hold up in larger studies. Distress can also improve on its own, making effects hard to pin down.
