Summary
This study tested a smartphone game called QuitBet that helps people stop smoking. Players put $30 of their own money into a pot. Those who meet their no-smoking goal split the pot, getting their money back plus extra from those who didn't succeed. The study involved 245 adults who smoked at least 5 cigarettes a day and compared the game to a version without social features.
