NCT ID NCT07465939

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two dental devices—the quadhelix and mini-hyrax expanders—in 24 children with cleft lip and palate who need their upper jaw widened before bone graft surgery. Researchers will use 3D scans and models to measure how much the jaw expands. The goal is to see which device works better, especially in the front part of the mouth.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Quadhelix expander and Mini-hyrax expander (dental devices)

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help dentists choose the best expander for children with cleft lip and palate, improving treatment outcomes.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 24 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. It measures bone changes, not long-term success.
