Scan to calm: QR code video may reduce Pre-Surgery anxiety

NCT ID NCT07647588

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving patients a QR code that links to a video about anesthesia can lower their anxiety before elective surgery. About 284 adults scheduled for surgery will either receive standard information alone or standard information plus the video. Researchers will measure changes in anxiety, how well patients understand the information, and their satisfaction.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
QR code-based video-supported anesthesia information
What this could lead to
If effective, this low-cost digital tool could help standardize patient education and reduce anxiety before surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a single-center study with a behavioral intervention, so results may not apply broadly. The video may not help everyone, and anxiety is complex.
