New drug combo aims to wipe out breast cancer before surgery

Summary

This study tests whether adding the drug pyrotinib to standard chemotherapy before surgery can completely eliminate cancer in women with HER2-positive early breast cancer. About 113 women will receive the treatment and then have surgery to see if no cancer remains. The goal is to improve long-term outcomes and reduce the chance of cancer coming back.
