Body position may predict fluid needs during keyhole hysterectomy
NCT ID NCT06981221
First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how a simple monitor called the Pleth Variability Index (PVI) changes during laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy. Researchers will track PVI at six key moments when the patient's body position changes, such as tilting the head down or raising the legs. The goal is to identify which factors—like body mass index or abdominal pressure—best predict a significant PVI shift, which could help guide fluid management during surgery. Fifty adult women scheduled for this procedure will take part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors tailor fluid delivery during laparoscopic hysterectomy, potentially reducing complications.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study, so findings may not apply to all patients or surgeries. It does not test a treatment or intervention.
