Eye study seeks to predict retinal detachment in nearsighted patients after surgery

NCT ID NCT03152747

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study followed 609 nearsighted people who had lens surgery to see if a natural eye change called posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) affects their risk of retinal detachment. Participants were grouped by whether they had PVD before surgery or not, and were monitored for up to 5 years. The goal is to help doctors predict and prevent retinal detachment in nearsighted patients after lens surgery.
