Nearsighted patients studied for retinal detachment risk after cataract surgery

NCT ID NCT03152747

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study followed 609 nearsighted adults who had lens surgery to see if a natural eye change called posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) affects their risk of retinal detachment. Participants were grouped by whether they had PVD before surgery or not, and were monitored for up to 5 years. The goal was to better predict retinal detachment risk in nearsighted patients after lens surgery.
