Heart valve trial asks: is routine artery testing before TAVI unnecessary?

Summary
This study looks at whether people with severe aortic stenosis can safely undergo a valve replacement procedure (TAVI) without first having a coronary angiogram—a test that checks for blocked heart arteries. Currently, most patients get this test before TAVI, but it can cause complications like kidney damage or bleeding, especially in older adults with other health issues. The trial will enroll 620 participants across Europe and follow them for two years to see if skipping the test is just as safe and effective.
