New Heart-Zapping technique tested for stubborn irregular heartbeat

NCT ID NCT05922917

Summary

This study is testing which of two heart ablation procedures works better for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib), a long-lasting irregular heartbeat. It uses a newer, faster method called pulsed-field ablation. Researchers are comparing a simpler procedure that isolates the pulmonary veins to a more complex one that also treats other areas of the heart's upper chamber. The goal is to see which approach better controls the heart's rhythm over a year.
