Pulse oximeter accuracy put to the test in Low-Oxygen study

NCT ID NCT05745662

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study checked how accurately pulse oximeters (devices that clip onto a finger to measure blood oxygen) work in healthy adults whose oxygen levels were temporarily lowered. Eleven participants had their oxygen reduced in a controlled way while the device readings were compared to actual blood samples. The goal was to see if these noninvasive devices give reliable results even during severe hypoxia.
