Glowing drug reveals why lung cancer immunotherapy fails
NCT ID NCT07653438
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new way to see where an immunotherapy drug goes in the lungs of people with stage III lung cancer. Twenty participants will receive a small dose of a fluorescent version of the drug durvalumab, then have a special camera bronchoscopy to spot the drug in tumors and lymph nodes. The goal is to understand why some patients stop responding to immunotherapy after chemoradiation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
durvalumab-680LT (a fluorescently labeled immunotherapy drug)
What this could lead to
If successful, this imaging method could help doctors predict which patients will benefit from immunotherapy, potentially personalizing treatment for stage III lung cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early-phase study (20 people) focused on imaging, not treatment. The fluorescent signal may not reliably predict treatment response, and the approach may not be widely usable.
