New pain relief hope for chronic pelvic pain sufferers
NCT ID NCT07356102
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests two versions of a procedure called pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) to treat pudendal neuralgia, a chronic pain condition in the pelvic area. About 38 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either standard PRF or a newer high-voltage, longer-duration PRF. Researchers will track pain levels and side effects for six months to see which approach provides better relief.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) procedure
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a more effective, longer-lasting pain relief option for people with chronic pelvic pain from pudendal neuralgia.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 38 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment is a procedure, not a cure, and pain may return.
