VA tests new writing therapy to help veterans with PTSD and mental illness

NCT ID NCT05674617

Summary

This study is testing whether a writing-based therapy called Written Exposure Therapy (WET) is practical and acceptable for veterans who have both PTSD and a serious mental illness like bipolar disorder or psychosis. Researchers will work with 48 veterans to see if they can recruit participants, if veterans find the therapy helpful, and if it improves PTSD symptoms and daily functioning. The study also aims to make assessments more culturally responsive for Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.
