New eye surgery aims to stop pterygium from coming back

NCT ID NCT07343011

First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests a new surgical technique for pterygium, a non-cancerous growth on the eye's surface. The surgery moves the growth to a new spot instead of removing it completely, aiming to lower the chance it grows back. About 70 adults with a first-time pterygium will take part, and researchers will check for regrowth and vision changes over time.
