Scientists scan brains on magic mushrooms
NCT ID NCT05698511
Summary
This study aims to understand what happens in the brain and body during a psychedelic experience. Researchers will give psilocybin (the active compound in 'magic mushrooms') to 12 healthy volunteers and scan their brains using MRI machines while they are under its effects. The goal is to map brain activity to different feelings and mental states, which may help guide future research into potential therapeutic uses of psychedelics.
