New scan could revolutionize prostate cancer staging
NCT ID NCT04745871
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special PET/CT scan (PSMA PET/CT) can more accurately find cancer spread to lymph nodes in men with intermediate- or high-risk prostate cancer before they have surgery. Current scans often miss this spread, leading to incomplete treatment. About 159 participants will get the new scan, and results will be compared to standard methods to see if it helps doctors plan better care.
