Scientists test 'Magic Mushroom' drug on sleeping people to unlock Mood-Boosting secrets
NCT ID NCT07360301
Summary
This study aims to understand why psilocybin, the psychedelic compound in 'magic mushrooms,' might improve a person's mood and sense of well-being. Researchers will enroll 120 adults to test whether the benefits come from the conscious psychedelic experience or from direct effects on the brain, even when a person is asleep. Participants will receive psilocybin either while awake or while under anesthesia and will be followed for about four months.
