Magic mushroom therapy trial for debilitating gut pain

NCT ID NCT06760533

Summary

This small, early-stage study is testing whether guided therapy sessions with the psychedelic compound psilocybin can help people with severe irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Ten patients with severe IBS will receive several therapy sessions; some will get a single dose of psilocybin during one session, while others will get a placebo. The main goal is to see if this approach is feasible and if it reduces abdominal pain and other IBS symptoms.
