Magic mushroom therapy tested for heartbreak
NCT ID NCT06724289
Summary
This small, early-stage study is exploring whether a single dose of psilocybin (the active compound in 'magic mushrooms'), given with supportive therapy, can help ease the intense and lasting symptoms of prolonged grief disorder. Researchers will enroll 12 adults to see if the treatment is practical to study and if it reduces grief and trauma symptoms. They will also use brain scans to understand how grief and the treatment affect brain activity.
