Magic mushroom therapy tested for cancer Patients' anxiety

NCT ID NCT07072728

Summary

This study is testing whether a therapy session using the psychedelic compound psilocybin (from 'magic mushrooms') can help reduce anxiety in people struggling to adjust to a cancer diagnosis. About 87 adults will receive one of three different doses of psilocybin during a guided therapy session, with their anxiety levels tracked for several months. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and effective for easing the significant emotional distress that can come with a serious illness.
