Scientists test if magic Mushrooms' 'Trip' is needed for benefits
NCT ID NCT06768944
Summary
This study aims to understand if the intense psychedelic experience (the 'trip') is necessary for psilocybin (the active compound in magic mushrooms) to improve mood and reduce stress. Researchers will give 128 healthy adults psilocybin, but some will also receive a drug called risperidone that blocks the psychedelic effects. They will then measure changes in well-being, stress hormones, and mood over the following month to see if the benefits still occur without the trip.
