Magic mushroom compound tested as new hope for Tough-to-Treat OCD

NCT ID NCT06992999

Summary

This study is testing whether psilocybin, the active compound in 'magic mushrooms,' can help people with OCD when standard treatments haven't worked well enough. Twenty adults with moderate to severe OCD will be randomly assigned to receive either a low or high dose of psilocybin during four supervised sessions over 12 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in OCD symptoms, quality of life, and safety, while also using brain scans to understand how it might work.
