Can a 'Magic Mushroom' compound rewire the aging brain?

NCT ID NCT06367738

Summary

This study aims to understand if a single dose of psilocybin, the compound found in 'magic mushrooms,' can cause lasting changes in the brain structure and function of healthy older adults. Researchers will use brain scans and memory tests to measure changes in 40 participants aged 60-85, comparing their brains before and after receiving a dose. The goal is to gather knowledge about how psilocybin might influence cognition and emotional well-being as people age.
