Blood patch showdown: could Platelet-Rich plasma beat whole blood for stubborn headaches?

NCT ID NCT07602556

First seen May 22, 2026 ยท Last updated May 22, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a patch made from a patient's own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) works better than a standard whole blood patch to stop severe headaches caused by spontaneous spinal fluid leaks. About 218 adults who have not gotten better with rest or other simple treatments will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two patches. The main goal is to see which approach provides more complete headache relief.
